While she was expecting her daughter Olivia, Bianca Orzech’s doctor outlined her options for delivery. Because she anticipated having a scheduled C-section, her doctor told her she would be eligible to donate her placenta, which can be used to help patients who require skin grafts. “I wasn’t necessarily going to do anything with my placenta, so I figured if someone could benefit from it, why not donate it?” she says.
Interested in learning more, Bianca reached out to Versiti. After 5-10 minutes spent registering and filling out the necessary paperwork, she scheduled to have a Versiti representative onsite the day of her delivery to take possession of her birth tissue. “It was a really easy process,” she says. “It was almost a no-brainer for me.”
Now, she encourages other expectant mothers with scheduled C-sections to consider placenta donation. “It was such an easy day … it was so stress-free,” she says. “It was a good process overall.”
