Hospital patients rely on blood products every day, even during the holidays, and demand can rise even as donations decline. Every donation helps local Wisconsin families receive critical care and ensures hospitals have the blood on hand for emergencies.
“This is more than a donation. It’s a shared moment of hope and care for neighbors, friends and loved ones,” said Lauren Patzman, director of donor services at Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin. “The Holiday of Hope blends the spirit of giving with the season’s magic, turning a routine act into a memorable holiday experience that provides hope in every drop and more moments and memories for Wisconsin hospital patients and their families.”
Anyone 17 or older who is in good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood. Parental consent is required for 16-year-olds to donate. Appointments are preferred to ensure a quick and convenient donation, but walk-in donors are also welcome. The entire process takes about an hour. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes their birth date.
