Prior to rejoining Versiti, Dr. Bryant was the Chief of the Department of Transfusion Medicine and the Center for Cellular Engineering at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. While at the NIH, she served on the Health and Human Services Advisory Committee on Blood and Tissue Safety and Availability and the Public Health Service Blood, Organ, and Tissue Senior Executive Council. She is a previous member of the Food and Drug Administration's Blood Products Advisory Committee and AABB Board of Directors. Dr. Bryant has also served as president of the South Central Association of Blood Banks.

Dr. Bryant received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Orleans and LSU Medical Center. She was a blood bank medical technologist and specialist in blood banking for 17 years before attending medical school, where she earned her medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch.
