A Holiday of Hope
Thank you for sharing your spark!
Thanks to your generous support of our lifesaving mission, families like Doug and Yasmeen are embracing brighter tomorrows. We wish you and your family a peaceful, joyful holiday!
Doug Kane has donated blood since 1967, making 462 donations and giving over 130 gallons. Inspired by his father-in-law’s work at the VA, Doug began donating to help others and never stopped. For over five decades, he’s quietly built a legacy of lifesaving impact.
“This is the one thing in life I’ve done that feels like a big deal,” Doug says.
Yasmeen was diagnosed with beta thalassemia major, a life-threatening blood disorder, at just 6 months old. She receives regular blood transfusions every 2-4 weeks—approximately 530 units of blood to date—that keep her alive and looking to the future. “I take advantage of every day that I’m alive,” she says. “Blood donors have literally saved my life; my life is literally in their veins. I am eternally grateful for every single blood donor.”
