This year Versiti is proud to participate in Year 3 of the We Give Blood drive. Abbott and Big Ten® are kicking off football season with something even more powerful than a touchdown — the school with the most donations will receive from Abbott $1 million to advance student or community health.

When you donate or present to donate blood throughout the campaign, you’ll receive an exclusive Big Ten® university-specific Homefield® vintage T-shirt* — a stylish way to show your school pride while supporting a life-saving cause.

About the We Give Blood Drive

The We Give Blood Drive challenge takes place from Wednesday, August 26, to Friday, December 4, 2025, at blood drives and donor centers throughout Versiti’s five-state footprint (and beyond). Supporters of the participating universities are encouraged to show team spirit by donating blood in your school’s name. In addition to helping local hospital patients, the winning school will receive $1 million to advance student or community health.

How to Participate

Ready to show your team spirit? It’s easy to join the We Give Blood Drive competition!

  • Make an appointment to donate blood at any Versiti blood drive or donor center between Aug. 26 and Dec. 4.
  • After your appointment, visit the official We Give Blood Drive website at BigTen.org/Abbott or text ‘GIVEBLOOD’ to 222688 (ABBOTT).
  • Submit confirmation of your donation and give your university credit.

Take Over a Donor Center

Take your support to the next level. You can help patients – and help your school win – by taking over a donor center in the name of your school for a day. Inviting your network of potential blood donors to one of our centers for your takeover day is a fantastic way to maximize your impact.
