Dr. Sharma's professional and research interests center around novel diagnostic approaches to non-malignant hematology in underserved or challenging patient populations. Dr. Sharma specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of disorders of thrombosis and hemostasis in pediatrics and young adults. A developing area of interest for her is multidisciplinary approach to the management of young women with hematological disorders. Dr. Sharma will also provide medical oversight to the Platelet Neutrophil Immunology Diagnostic Laboratory at the BloodCenter of Wisconsin.

Dr. Sharma completed her Medical School in Maulana Azad Medical College/University of Delhi, India. She went to University of Toledo for her internship and pediatric residency and completed fellowships in Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology/ Bone Marrow transplantation and Hemostasis-Thrombosis at Nationwide Children’s Hospital/ The Ohio State University. During her fellowship she conducted basic research in animal models of thrombosis (blood clotting) in nephrotic syndrome, a major kidney disease in children. She also conducted clinical research in Young women’s hematology and mild bleeding disorders in children.
